Dermal Fillers
At the Sinno Center for Plastic Surgery, we are dedicated to finding the right solution for your beauty enhancement. If you would like to diminish facial wrinkles or make your lips look fuller, we may suggest one of our modern dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM®. Residents of Columbia, Ellicott City, and Baltimore, MD, enjoy these and other facial rejuvenation treatments to look refreshed and more vibrant. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Fady Sinno offers dermal fillers at his office in Ellicott City.
About Our Dermal Fillers
Our variety of wrinkle fillers makes it quick and easy to enhance your facial features. Unlike many plastic surgeons in the Baltimore area, Dr. Sinno performs these treatments himself to ensure precise, natural-looking results. Women and men choose wrinkle fillers to correct many signs of aging, including:
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- Deep furrows across the forehead
- Nasolabial folds and “marionette lines” around the mouth
- Fine lines around the lips
These fillers can also be used to temporarily enhance lips and fill in certain scars.

Your Dermal Filler Options
All of our modern fillers are synthetic, which means they are not made from animal products and do not require allergy tests. These popular treatments can help you look younger with little to no downtime. They are all FDA-approved and have a proven safety and efficacy record. Virtually all fillers are pre-mixed with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during your treatment.
JUVÉDERM
The JUVÉDERM product line includes several specialized fillers in addition to JUVÉDERM XC, which smooths smile lines and nasolabial folds. Some popular JUVÉDERM fillers include:
- JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC: Gives lips a fuller appearance and smooths vertical lip lines. Results last up to a year.
- JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC: Injected deeper than other JUVÉDERM fillers to contour and lift the cheeks. Results last up to 2 years.
- JUVÉDERM VOLLURE® XC: Softens the nasolabial folds that extend from the nose to the sides of the mouth. Results last up to 18 months.
Restylane®
Like JUVÉDERM products, the Restylane family of fillers offers specialized treatment options to address specific concerns. They include:
- Restylane® Silk: Designed specifically for lip contouring and smoothing wrinkles around the mouth. Results last about 6 months.
- Restylane® Refyne & Defyne: Both of these fillers use a uniquely crosslinked gel (XpresHAn Technology™) to ensure the treatment areas—nasolabial folds and lines around the mouth—look and move naturally. Both last up to 12 months.
- Restylane® Lyft: A versatile filler that treats moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, Restylane Lyft adds volume to the cheeks, erases smile lines around the mouth, and plumps the backs of the hands.
- Restylane® Kysse: A dedicated lip filler, Restylane Kysse also contains XpresHAn Technology™, designed to ensure the lips and mouth move naturally. Results last up to 1 year.
RADIESSE®
Unlike the hyaluronic acid-based JUVÉDERM and Restylane fillers, which are volumizers, RADIESSE is a biostimulator that triggers the production of new collagen. RADIESSE uses calcium-based microspheres to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and folds in the face and hands. Results are immediate and sustained and can last up to 2 years.
Sculptra®
Sculptra® is another filler that stimulates collagen production, gradually restoring volume to deeper facial folds and depressions, such as hollowed cheeks. Sculptra is made from a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid. Dr. Sinno often recommends 2 to 3 initial treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The results can last up to 2 years or more.
With so many choices available, you might be confused about which wrinkle filler to choose. Dr. Sinno will determine which one will best address your unique facial features and cosmetic goals when he meets with you for your personal consultation.
Combining Fillers With BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®
Some patients achieve even more impressive results with a combination of a filler and either BOTOX or Dysport injections. This combination, sometimes called a “liquid facelift,” addresses different types of wrinkles for full face rejuvenation.
What To Expect
These simple treatments are performed in our office and usually take less than an hour to complete. The filler is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts with a fine needle. Results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, Dr. Sinno may anesthetize the treatment area.
Dermal Filler Recovery & Results
There’s very little recovery time required after dermal filler treatments; most patients can return to their normal activities as soon as they leave our office. Many fillers provide immediate improvements, so you can stop in for a treatment and look years younger the same evening.
Common Alternatives to Dermal Fillers
Even though dermal fillers are some of the most popular cosmetic treatment options, they’re not for everyone. If you’re not a fan of needles, clinical skincare products can help you maintain a youthful appearance. Chemical peels are a nonsurgical option that creates smoother, more radiant skin. If you’ve been getting fillers and noticed they are no longer producing the desired results, it may be time to consider a facelift or eyelid surgery.
Dermal Filler FAQ
How long do fillers usually last?
Fillers are temporary solutions to cosmetic concerns. Depending on the filler, the results can last from 6 months to 2 years or more.
Can you feel dermal filler in your face?
It’s normal to feel the filler’s presence during the initial few days after a treatment. As the filler integrates with the skin, the sensation diminishes.
What’s the difference between fillers and BOTOX?
Fillers and BOTOX treat different types of wrinkles. Fillers reduce the appearance of static wrinkles primarily caused by the natural aging process and sun damage. BOTOX and Dysport minimize dynamic wrinkles, such as crow’s feet and worry lines, that gradually emerge after years of making facial expressions.
